Meet the team who have lifted (A)LURE to a new level
Matt Horne, Chef de Cuisine
Joining the (A)LURE team in 2009, Matt brings with him a wealth of international experience and a passion for great food.
Matt’s love of cooking was fostered in the hub of his childhood home – the bustling kitchen of a family of foodies. After a brief dabble with photography Matt followed his passion into the industry with an apprenticeship at notable Globe Restaurant in the Perth Hilton.
After completing his apprenticeship in 1999, Matt took on the position of Demi Chef at Parmelia Hilton Perth and after six months was promoted to Chef de Partie under the guidance of the internationally renowned Cheong Liew OAM. Under Matt’s leadership the team won silver in the ‘Restaurant of Champions’ award in 2001.
In 2004, Matt took the opportunity to travel to Europe and deepen his knowledge of international produce and influences. In the UK he ran the kitchen in the award winning Kings Restaurant at the famous De Vere Grand Hotel Brighton, cooking for the likes of Tony Blair, Richard Branson and The Foo Fighters.
Matt has been delighted with the steady upward curve that (A)LURE has enjoyed with its current team.
Martyn Allum, Manager
While studying Politics and Sociology at University Martyn started working part time at English pub chain JD Wetherspoon. Enjoying hospitality more than politics Martyn stayed with his employer (after completing his degree) and developed his skills in different positions around the UK for another five years.
Chasing the sun, Martyn came to Australia and we’re pleased to add – to Burswood, where he began as a supervisor at Atrium. Before too long he was working with and learning from Bernadine Alcantra and became the Assistant Manager at Victoria Station.
In February 2011 Martyn was offered the role of Manager at (A)LURE, since taking on the challenge his skills have come to the fore and the restaurant is going from strength to strength.
Something of a wine aficionado, Martyn is passionate about pairing wines with good food. He designed the wine flight for the very successful truffle menu that was held in (A)LURE in June 2011.
Martyn’s naturally social nature means he is genuinely concerned that all his guests have a truly wonderful experience at (A)LURE.
