Originally hailing from Heeg, a small town in the Netherlands, Atrium’s Chef de Cuisine has come a long way to cook for you in Atrium. Inspired from the age of four by his mother who worked in hospitality, Marco found himself assisting in kitchens at the tender age of 11 and only a few years later he was running a local restaurant kitchen on weekends. Creative cooking is truly in his blood and as his passion kept growing, Marco at the age of 17 moved to Switzerland to gain culinary knowledge and experience, working in famous 4 and 5 star resorts in and around Zurich.
Now a confirmed culinary traveler, Marco applied for an Executive Chef position within the cruise ship industry. He then spent the next 11 years travelling the world to a myriad of locations on-board the “Silver Whisper” (6 Star, Silver Sea Cruises) and “Wind Surf” (5 Star, Windstar Cruises) leading a team of 60 chefs.
Marco’s next destination was Australia where he spent 20 years in Queensland. During that time, he helped establish the kitchens for the renowned Sheraton, Port Douglas. In 2009 Marco moved to Perth to take up his new role at Burswood Entertainment Complex.
Marco has had the pleasure of cooking for an impressive list of high profile personalities including Bill Clinton, George Bush Senior, Madonna, Bon Jovi, Pat Cash, Claudia Schiffer, Kylie Minogue, the Kidman family, John Howard, David Copperfield and Michael Schumacher.
Deciding that he has found somewhere to put down roots, Marco is thrilled to be leading a first-class team who delight customers every day with the remarkable array of stunning cuisine on offer at Atrium.
