Burswood Milestones
1985 WA Government grants casino licence to the Burswood Property Trust and Burswood Casino opens.
1987 Burswood Dome, Burswood Resort Hotel and Burswood Convention Centre open.
1988 Burswood International Resort Casino officially opens.
1990 Major extension to Burswood Casino is completed.
1995 New International Gaming Facility is completed.
1996 Burswood International Resort Casino inducted into the Western Australia "Hall of Fame" recognising the Company's contribution to WA tourism and success in winning four consecutive Sir David Brand Tourism Awards.
1998 Burswood Property Trust is corporatised.
1998 Refurbished Burswood Theatre opens.
1999 Major refurbishment of Burswood Hotel rooms is completed.
2000 $96 million Resort improvement programme begins.
2001 The Ruby Room nightclub and Champions Bar opens, and refurbishment of Burswood Resort Hotel is completed.
2002 Grand Ballroom opens and Burswood wins the Sir David Brand Award for tourism.
2003 Burswood and Mirvac Fini formalise a joint venture to develop 19.1ha of land adjacent to the Complex and Burswood enters into a joint venture with the internationally renowned InterContinental Hotels Group to operate the Burswood Hotel and a new Holiday Inn Hotel.
2004 Burswood is acquired by PBL.
2005 Burswood changes its name to Burswood Entertainment Complex. Holiday Inn Burswood and Sirocco Restaurant and Bar open.
2006 Refurbishment commences on new meeting room facilities, The Studios, at the Burswood Convention Centre. Burswood opens its VIP international gaming facility, The Pearl Room, in November along with a new dining venue - (A)LURE Dining Room and Bar.
2007 Burswood Convention Centre unveils The Astral, Australia's most intelligent venue, in May. MINQ Bar & Lounge and Riviera Room opened in August, taking over the space formerly occupied by the International Room. Construction commences on Phase Three of the Main Gaming Floor refurbishment, including a new sports bar - Carbon. PBL de-merges and Burswood is acquired by Crown Limited.
